I don’t feel AA, NA, & etc. meeting are for everyone. I have a dream to create a space where sober people can just go to hang out, enjoy themselves, and support each other without such a structured environment, a home away from home. My mission is to provide a relaxing place where sober people can congregate and just talk about whatever they wish to whomever they want and not have to feel the pressure of speaking in front of a crowd, which is what takes place at AA or NA meetings. It would be a place to go to after work, when one awakes, or after dinner. No set time. Not a place where people sit in a crowd of their peers looking like they do not really want to be there, or you can tell most of them do not want to hear or care what you would like to share. I know I personally would love to get out of work and go hang out and talk with sober friends and joke around, smile, do some gaming, or talk about something bothering me with a friend instead of observers. It’s hard to make friends and establish a network when sitting in a group, allowing only one person to speak at a time while everyone else barely cracks a smile. The actives I’d provide would be both for pleasure and self-growth. I grew up not believing in myself. I did not believe I had what it takes to get good grade when attending grade school so I stopped trying and did completely nothing starting about 6th grade and eventually quit school at the age of 16. Later in life, after multiple ups and downs of life’s lessons I decided I wanted to prove myself wrong and go to college. I got a GED book and did a little studying. I was really proud and surprised to pass the tests on the first attempt. So, now I was eligible to take my chances at disappointing myself by failure or being more proud of myself than I’d ever been in my life by going to college and succeeding. Long story short, I graduated with honors and essentially with a sixth grade education. I’d love to provide support to sober individuals looking to better their lives and developing opportunities for their future. I’d personally help individuals study for a GED and aid quarries to student grants/loans if one has aspirations to further there education. I believe a children’s play area would be great amenity. Both couples and single parents alike sometimes find it difficult to find the time to get that much needed adult social engagement. Providing a section for children would not only allow parents to get out and get their sober support but also enables the newly sober individual to spend time with their child and remind themselves why they’re trying so hard to remain sober. And finally for the self-growth section, my personal favorite, A GYM!!! Without exercise I don’t know if I would be here today! The gym is my outlet. It allows me to forget about all my problems and release stress, plus the added bonus is that I get to look good and feel great about myself!! I believe, especially for those in early recovery, a boost of confidence through health and fitness provides certain pride that can’t be duplicated, manufactured, or taken by anyone!! These men and women will be able to better themselves by being supporting and enabling their peers through pushing each other to commitments and consistency of their efforts. I consider this an important part of my mission. It would be a considerable part of the donations, but I believe whole heartedly a necessary one. I want this establishment to not just provide a haven for people to laugh, smile, and congregate but to also provide a club. A place to enjoy themselves and improve themselves!!! For fun and relaxation there will be couches and televisions for those whom what to just plop their butts on the couch after a long day’s work but don’t want to do so alone at home. They can come anytime, stay as long as they wish, again a haven/club. Going to AIA was the absolute best decision I ever made. When I arrived I was an absolute mess. I wanted nothing more then to leave. It was the middle of the night and the owner actually came to the detox to calm me and reassure me that even though I was a thousand miles away from home that I was going to be okay. I gave them such hell and me health wasn't helping. But they took care of every aspect of my health mental and emotional and physical. Before long I made it through detox and I made some friends. To this day I am still in contact with my roommate. We call each other our sober sister. After almost 90 days I graduated the program and was given a flight home where I was given a new chance at a sober life. I still struggled but after going there I had the courage to pack up and move to restart my life. I now have been sober along time working back in the medical field and reunited with my long lost family who has excepted me back into their lifes. I look back at what AIA helped me accomplish and I now look into the mirror and can't believe the person I am today. I truly owe my life to them . the owner pulled me off to the side right before I left to tell me how proud he was of the person I became. That I was an example of what this program could do for a person. It made me cry. If anyone needs help and is ready for their life to change .this is the place that can and will help .

I owe my life to Above it All treatmeant center! Without the help, education care that I received from their amazing treatmeant team & staff, I do not think I would be alive today! I am currently 3 years clean & sober from alcohol, cocaine & meth. Their treatmeant doesn't end when you leave treatmeant, I am still in contact with counselors & staff that are invested in my recovery. I traveled from Michigan to California for treatmeant because of the lack of quality treatmeant programs in Michigan. Even though it sucked to be away from everyone I knew & loved, it allowed me to do actually work on myself and to understand recovery. Best decision in my life going to AiA without them I would of never of gotten to be with my family, which I get to now because of their help getting clean & sober and teaching me how to live a life in recovery!

I am a recovering addict and I'm employed at above it all..every day I am blessed to work at this company ..I have 6 yrs clean.. how awesome it is to work with clients and share my experience strength and hope to a suffering addict who comes into treatment..I share with them how treatment is a stepping stone to a journey to our own personal walk to our recovery...while in treatment and attending meetings and doing the footwork it takes to stay clean & sober ..I get to show them that it works ..give them hope !! I was very apprehensive when I went to Above it All, but it was the best choice I've ever made. I felt like I was where I needed to be and everyday I thank God that I found this place. Not only a great place to get sober but the follow up was unbelievable as well, I was still getting calls for over a year to see how I was doing, if I hadn't changed my number who knows I may still have been getting those calls four years later. Above It All at Lake Arrowhead is truly an amazing place for rehabilitation. They have completely taken care of my uncle and he has been sober for 2 years now. He is so full of life and was given the tools to succeed. I have so grateful for what they did to my family!

I had looked all over the web for an alcohol rehab in california that is affordable and reliable. Its really hard to determine whom to trust when you are sending a loved one to get help. I found Above it All Treatment Center and their name says it all. They really went above all expectations and I would recommend they to anyone. They are wonderful!
